Geo3D is freeware. Currently English, French and German versions of Geo3D are available.
What's new?
• New items under General panel of the Preferences window.
• Removed Apple QD3D viewer support. This was a relic of ancient prototypes.
• Now you can drag 3DMF-files (like menu Viewer/Add Model...), Animation-files (like menu Animation/Import...), and Groups-files (like menu Groups/Import...) onto a main window.
• Fixed Light dialog bug.
• Fixed some cosmetic bugs.
Geo3D lets you navigate through space rather than only manipulate the models. Geo3D relies on QuickDraw 3D (QD3D) for rendering, navigation and picking.
The minimal configuration to use Geo3D is :
• A PowerPC based Computer (PowerMac) with at least 32 megabytes of memory (RAM).
• Mac OS 8 or newer (or Mac OS 7.5.1 - 7.6.1 with Appearance Extension)
• The system extension QuickDraw™ 3D, the libraries QuickDraw™ 3D IR, and QuickDraw™ 3D RAVE version 1.5.3 or newer must be installed in your Extensions folder.
Required for some features are:
• QD3DCustomElements library (part of QD3D 1.5.4 /QuickTime 3.0.2)
• Internet Config version 1.1 or newer (current version: 2.0)
QD3D is available from <http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/> as part of the QuickTime 3 package.
Internet Config is available from <http://www.quinn.echida.id.au/Quinn/Config/>.
Geo3D performs best when run on a monitor set to thousands or millions of colors. Installing a QuickDraw 3D graphics accelerator board in your PCI based system will also greatly improve performance.
Geo3D supports QD3D's 3D metafile (3DMF) format. 3DMF is a cross-platform (Mac, Windows, Unix) file format that can contain any 3D information the user can create, including all types of geometries and objects, plus textures, lights, shaders, cameras, active renderers, material properties, hierarchical information and more. Both text and binary formats are supported.
Supported file types: “3DMF”, “sDMF” (stationary); “TEXT” only with extension “.3dmf” or “.3dm” .
